with your check (payable to Boy Scout Troop 603) to the church office.
All orders must be received by Sunday, December 7th. No orders will be
accepted after this date. Price is $15.00 each. Please indicate in whose
memory or in honor of your poinsettia is intended to. Forms will be
available in The Witness mail, in the Church Service bulletin, and in
the church office.

on Wednesday, December 24 at 7:00 p.m. Please join us
as we again celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ through scripture,
carols and candles.
▪ Combined Worship with Casa de Fe
on Sunday, December 28 at 11:00 in the Sanctuary.
After the worship service we will enjoy a pot luck lunch in the Judson
Chapel. Please speak with Claire Stevens regarding the pot luck
lunch.

American Baptist Women's ministries of First
Baptist Church, Malden Fall meeting.
Please plan to join our church women and girls for some food, fellowship and
fun on Saturday, November 8, 2008 at 12:00 noon. After the pot-luck
luncheon the White Cross Quota will be presented along with some information
about where and to whom our gifts will be sent. "Purse Auction" will be
introduced as a fund raiser to support the state project of "Break the
Chains" which promotes ending human trafficking. The auctioneer for the
event is Lisa Jacobson. Please call the church office or speak with Marilyn
Glover for more details.

The Social Committee is sponsoring 4 S's. September Sunday
Special Social on Sunday, September 28 at 12:00 noon. Lunch
menu consists of Sandwiches, Salad, Special desserts (Shortbread, sugar
cookies, and Sherbet) and Scavenger hunt.
▪
Work day on Saturday, October 11 from 8 a.m. to 12:00 noon. Weather
permitting, the primary focus will be on the front lawn of the church,
pruning the forsythia and transferring all trimmings to a Dumpster. Tools
needed for this project will be lopping shears, work gloves and strong
muscles. Other works will prepare the church building for winter and some
scraping and patching of interior walls.

An old fashioned Bean Supper with entertainment will be held in the
Judson Chapel on Saturday, October 25, 2008 at 5:00 p.m. Tickets are now on
sale. Limited amount will be sold so please call the church office or
purchase your tickets after the Sunday morning worship service.

Baptism and Church membership. There are several candidates planning to
be baptized and/or become church members this fall. Anyone who would like
to join may speak with Pastor Martha Dominy.
▪
Dedication of Parents and Children will be held during the worship
service on Sunday, October 19. Interested Parents may contact Pastor Dominy
for more information,

Tower bell ringers needed. Volunteers with the ability to read basic
music requiring at least a "one-finger" keyboard style are needed. Anyone
interested may speak with Pastor Martha Dominy.

Hand bell Choir. Christmas will be here before we know it and bells are
traditional way of celebrating the season. This year we would like to form
a hand bell choir. The choir would play during the morning worship services
and perhaps at the annual festival of carols. Ideally, at least ten people
are needed for the choir. The ability to read music is not a requirement,
but is helpful. Interested youth or adults may speak with either Richard
Freeman or Pastor Dominy to sign up
▪ Church Work Day on
Saturday, June 21, 2008 from 8:00 a.m. to 12 noon. Everyone is invited to
help out. We will be working inside and out to clean and beautify our church
building and grounds.
▪ The American Baptist
Women's Ministries (ABWM) of First Baptist Malden is once again
sponsoring Tools of Hope for Father's Day on June 15, 2008. On two Sundays
before Father's Day, June 1 and June 8, forms will be available during
coffee hour to enable us to give our $5.00 gifts. Special Father's Day cards
will also be available.
▪ American Baptist
Women's Ministries (ABWM) of First Baptist Malden will meet for their
Annual Meeting with Installation of Officers on June 14 at 11:00 a.m. The
women will have a pot-luck brunch-lunch and Marilyn and Linda Glover will
present Patriotic Duets, Barbara Tolstrup will provide a brief program on
the significance of the American Flag to Malden. All women of the church
are invited to attend.
▪ A service for the
dedication of parents and children will be held during the Children's
day worship on June 8.
▪ A service of believer's baptism will be held during the Children's
Day worship on June 8.

Scholarships. The Hillyer H. Straton and Alfred and Jeanne Jones
Scholarships plus the Lockhart and Allen Funds are awarded to students who
have completed at least one year of college and have been active members of
the church for a minimum of three years prior to making application. One
letter is all that is necessary in applying for a scholarship. Each
applicant is asked to submit a written resume which should include a
personal profile and aspirations. Every applicant is carefully

at the Church on June 22 sponsored by the Social Committee. If you are
interested in helping please speak with Claire Stevens.
▪ A service for the dedication of parents and children will be held during
the Children's day worship on June 8.
▪ A service of believer's baptism will be held during the Children's Day
worship on June 8. Anyone interested in participating is asked to speak with
the pastor soon. Also, anyone interested in becoming an official member of
the church may speak with Rev. Martha Dominy.

▪ FBC cooks for Bread of Life at 3:30 p.m. in Church social hall
kitchen on Friday, May 16.
▪ May 11 is Day of Pentecost. The color for this special day in the
church is red, so you are invited to wear something red in color on this day
which we celebrate as the Church's birthday.
▪ May 11 is Mother's Day.
▪ Grotonwood Camp preview day on May 4. Everyone is invited to go and
see what the camp has to offer.
▪ Church World Service Blanket Program.
The American Baptist Women's Ministries of First Baptist Malden is once
again sponsoring Blanket Sunday on Mother's Day, May 11, 2008. Each $5.00
gift enables someone in need to receive a blanket of warmth. If you would
like to give a blanket in memory or in honor of a loved one please fill out
the form provided in Judson Chapel after the Sunday worship services on
April 27 and May 4th. Mother's Day cards will be also be available on these
dates. Please make your check payable to First Baptist Church of Malden and
give it to Ms. Irene Hofmann or place it in the offering plate or send it to
the church office. All checks must be received by Monday, May 5th.
▪ The Social Committee has planned a POT-LUCK
luncheon after the worship service on April 27. The whole church is
invited and encouraged to attend. Please speak with Claire Stevens
regarding the dish you will bring. The Social Committee will provide a
special desert.
▪ The ABWM of First Baptist Malden will host an April
Shower to benefit Portal to Hope on April 26, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. Please
speak with Barbara Tolstrup for details.
▪ Casa de Fe Y Alabanza will host the combined worship
service on Sunday, March 30 at the Parish House Fuller Hall. Plan to worship
with us on this special day. Rev. Dr. Liliana De Valle will be the guest
preacher.
