Today, we remember Chuck Huddy. Charles, known as Chuck to most, passed away on April 14, 2020, he was 77 years old. Chuck was born in Kilauea, Kaua’i, to Abraham and Dorothy Huddy. He graduated from Kamehameha Schools in Honolulu, Class of 1960.

After graduation he enlisted in the Army where he trained as a machinist and served in Germany. After being honorably discharged, he moved to California where he married Cynthia “Cindy” Tower in 1969. Chuck and Cindy settled in Massachusetts where they raised a family and Chuck earned a B.S in Accounting from Bentley University. He used his training from the Army to work as a machinist until his retirement in 2004.

This information is for everyone to know. Chuck is Michael’s father and husband of Cindy. One thing I know is his faithful and dedicated service to God and FBC Malden. He served for many years as Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Property Board, Finance Board, and other committees on specific programs. His involvement is not limited to official function as he volunteered in maintaining the church premises inside and out, mowing the grass in summer and shoveling in winter, inspecting water leak sources to the point of climbing the church building roof, and the sprinkler system in the basement. I was told he climbed the sanctuary ceiling to fix the light bulb which I still wonder how he did it.

Chuck was a faithful member of the weekly Bible Study Group that met every Tuesday under the leadership of Rev. Martha Dominy. Also, he volunteered to prepare and serve meals on the third Friday of each month with the Bread of Life. Chuck was a faithful volunteer in delivering lunches to Habitat for Humanity as well. For his dedication and faithful service, he was named “Layperson of the Year” in 2002.
