This Thanksgiving Week we come to praise and worship God for who He is and thank Him for His love and care. The sermon by Rev. Martha A. Dominy is “Thanks for Nothing!”. Thanking God for His blessing beyond the material things we see and touch is important to consider. For it’s about the favor and protection that are unseen yet eternal in time and space. Scripture is Ephesians 1:15-23.

Prelude: “Come, Ye Thankful People” Tune: St. George’s, Windsor, Transcribed by William Stickles

Call to Worship / Invocation / Lord’s Prayer

Hymn: “For the Beauty of the Earth” Words: Folliot S. Pierpoint, 1864, Music: DIX by Conrad Kocher, 1838; Arr. by Williams H Monk, 1861

For the beauty of the earth
For the glory of the skies,
For the love which from our birth
Over and around us lies.

Refrain
Lord of all, to Thee we raise,
This our hymn of grateful praise.

For the wonder of each hour,
Of the day and of the night,
Hill and vale, and tree and flower,
Sun and moon, and stars of light. Refrain

For the joy of human love,
Brother, sister, parent, child,
Friends on earth and friends above,
For all gentle thoughts and mild. Refrain

For Thy Church, that evermore
Lifteth holy hands above,
Offering up on every shore
Her pure sacrifice of love. Refrain

Hymn: “Count Your Blessings” Words: Johnson Oatman, Jr, 1897, Music: BLESSINGS by Edwin O Excell, 1897

When upon life’s billows
You are tempest tossed,
When you are discouraged,
Thinking all is lost,
Count your many blessings,
Name them one by one,
And it will surprise you
What the Lord hath done.

Refrain
Count your blessings,
Name them one by one,
Count your blessings,
See what God hath done!
Count your blessings,
Name them one by one,
And it will surprise you
What the Lord hath done.

Are you ever burdened
With a load of care?
Does the cross seem heavy
You are called to bear?
Count your many blessings,
Every doubt will fly,
And you will keep singing
As the days go by. Refrain

When you look at others
With their lands and gold,
Think that Christ has promised
You His wealth untold;
Count your many blessings.
Wealth can never buy
Your reward in Heaven,
Nor your home on high. Refrain

So, amid the conflict
Whether great or small,
Do not be disheartened,
God is over all;
Count your many blessings,
Angels will attend,
Help and comfort give you
To your journey’s end. Refrain

Benediction
