Mona Gail Hatch (Leawood) passed away peacefully, from complications due to Covid, on December 14, 2020 at Vista Prairie River Heights Assisted Living, South St Paul, MN at the age of 83. She was preceded in death by her parents John and Louetta Oster, and beloved husband Richard Hatch. Survived by sons Milan (Diane) Hatch, Thomas (Abby) Hatch, daughter Loralee Bailey, and grandchildren Jennifer (Ed) Galan, Susie (Greg) Urbach, Kyle Bailey (Hilary), Sarah (Richard) Remus, Christopher (Lexi) Hatch, step-grandchildren Alissa Mott, Natasha McElroy, great grandchildren Ian, Connor, EJ, and Carter. And many nieces, nephews, and grandnieces, grandnephews.

Mona was born in Montreal, Canada on June 14, 1937, and as a young woman moved to Massachusetts in 1956, where she met and married the love of her life Richard Hatch the following year. They lived in the Boston suburbs for 8 years as she and Rick started their family. After Rick was transferred to Maine for his work in 1964, they built their life in Passadumkeag, ME for the next 15 years. In the early 1980s after their children were grown, Mona and Richard returned to the Boston suburbs and remained there for the next 30 years until the passing of Rick in 2011. Mona then journeyed to Minnesota to live near her daughter, Loralee.

Mona will forever be remembered for her chatty personality, knitting intricate baby items for family, friends, and charities, and her endless care and prayers for those that she loved. Mona was faithful and devoted to her church families: First Baptist Church Malden in MA, Passadumkeag Baptist in ME, and Riverview Baptist in MN, as they were back to her.

The family would like to send special thanks to the hospice team that cared for Mona with love, grace, and dignity, especially her hospice nurse Jen and Chaplin May, to Pastor Martha who remained a loving support and friend no matter the distance, to Harold and Marge who welcomed her to MN and remained a constant support, and to her Vista Prairie friends Vi, MaryLou and Gayle and staff Jeanine, James, and Stephanie, and others who touched our mother’s life.

With gatherings not safe or allowed at this time, we ask that you take time on Christmas Eve to ring a bell in memory of Mona, and for all those who have lost their lives to Covid. A private family gathering for interment is anticipated to be held in the summer of 2021 at Forest Dale cemetery in Malden, MA.
