Phyllis E. (Gray) Knight, a longtime resident of Malden, passed away on Tuesday, May 25th, at the age of 100. Phyllis was born in Revere in 1920, the daughter of Joseph and Anne Gray. She was raised in Revere, and graduated from Revere High School, Class of 1938. In 1941, she married her sweetheart, Irving S. Knight. In 1949, they moved to Malden where they raised their family. They shared over 60 years of marriage together.

She attended Emmanuel Baptist Church in Malden and later joined the First Baptist Church in Malden where she was an active member. She served on the Board of Christian Education for the Church, and volunteered teaching Sunday School and Clark Fellowship Adult Women’s Class. She also volunteered at the Dexter House Nursing Home and the Malden Public Library. In her spare time she enjoyed taking cruises and was skilled with arts and crafts.

She is survived by her children, Marcia E. Kilpatrick and husband Rev. David of Malden, Owen S. Knight and wife Elizabeth of Malden, Anna-Louise Forte and husband Charles of Malden, Brian I. Knight of Malden, and David S. Knight of Malden, as well as 7 Grandchildren , 8 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband Irving, her son Bruce, her brothers, Leo, Joseph, James, Thomas, her sisters, Eldora, Carol, Thelma, Martha, and Baby Gray, and her grandchildren, Rebecca Knight and Adam Forte.

Funeral service was held at the Weir-MacCuish Golden Rule Funeral Home, 144 Salem St, Malden on Wednesday, June 2nd, at 10 AM. Interment followed in Puritan Lawn Cemetery, Peabody.

Visitation was held in the Weir-MacCuish Golden Rule Funeral Home, 144 Salem St, Malden, on Tuesday, June 1st, from 4 – 8 PM.
