Light the Advent candle, one: Now the waiting has begun;
We have started on our way, Time to think of Christmas day.
Candle, candle, burning bright, Shining in the cold winter night;
Candle, candle, burning bright, Fill our hearts with Christmas light.

Note: The first candle is the candle of hope and expectation. Advent means arrival or coming into place. It is seen as a time to prepare one’s heart for Christmas and for the eventual return of Christ and the judgment He will bring to the world.

Advent season in our church is a tradition that lasts for four Sundays which begins on the nearest Sunday to November 30 and ends on Christmas Eve.  Singing and lighting the advent candles come in stages counting from first Sunday of Advent to Christmas eve.
